The Cacao Ceremony is an ancient ritual originating from the Mayan and Aztec cultures in Mesoamerica. It is not about drinking ordinary hot chocolate, but rather ingesting a dose of Ceremonial Cacao (pure, raw, minimally processed cacao) in an intentional and sacred setting.
Cacao was considered by these cultures to be the “Food of the Gods” and was used as currency, medicine, and a vehicle for spiritual connection and meditation.
Key features of the ceremony:
- Medicine:A thick, slightly bitter drink is consumed, prepared with pure cacao paste (which retains its high content of minerals, antioxidants, and healthy fats) diluted in water or plant-based milk, and often mixed with spices such as cinnamon or chili.
